52 Famous Lives From American History

While searching for a book on the topic of American History which embodied a similar flavor/style of V.M. Hillyer’s “A Child’s History of the World” I came across this title, also published by The Calvert School of Baltimore. “A Child’s Story of Famous Americans” introduces your child to famous Americans from eight categories, the Revolutionary War,Presidents and Leaders, Scientists and Inventors, Humanitarians, Writers, Explorers, Artists, and Athletes. For each famous American there is a biography, discussion questions, reading/writing activity, coloring page and hands on activity. To round out your study of famous Americans I would recommend using the Animated Hero Classics dvds, Childhood of Famous Americans book series, The Rainbow Book of American History by Earl Schenck Miers or The American Story by Jennifer Armstrong. The recommended grade levels for this curriculum are Grades 3, 4 and 5.
